SAFI’s Impact

At SAFI, we believe that sustainable change begins at the heart of the home. Since our inception, we have been dedicated to helping families move from the uncertainty of food dependency to the dignity of self-reliance.

16,000+ Families Empowered

Through a unique blend of hands-on training and community-led support, we have partnered with over 16,000 families. By sharing practical skills and sustainable agricultural techniques, we empower households to take charge of their own food production and build a foundation for a brighter future.

The transformation in the fields of our partner farmers is nothing short of remarkable. Families have progressed from harvesting just one bag of maize per acre to an average of 30-65 bags per acre. This significant increase in yield does more than provide food, it creates economic stability. It allows families to transition from basic survival to true sustainability, ensuring they have the resources to thrive for generations to come.

A bountiful harvest leads to healthier children. We are deeply moved by the visible shift in the well-being of the communities we serve. Where malnutrition was once a daily struggle, we now see thriving families.

We have seen a significant decline in preventable nutritional conditions, such as:

  • Protein-energy malnutrition (including Kwashiorkor and Marasmus)
  • Micronutrient deficiencies (such as Anemia, Rickets, and Zinc deficiency)

By promoting better housing and cleaner, disease-free environments, we are helping to ensure that every child in our operational areas has the chance to grow up healthy and strong.

As of 2026, SAFI is proud to be working on the ground in several districts across Malawi:

  • Central Region: Kasungu, Dedza, Ntchisi, Lilongwe, Salima, and Dowa.
  • Northern Region: Karonga and Chitipa.

These households have adopted improved farming and food production practices that enable them to produce sufficient food throughout the year. As a result, families experience improved nutrition, increased resilience to seasonal food shortages, and reduced vulnerability to climate-related shocks.
