About Us
What We Do
SAFI works to address the root causes of food insecurity by equipping households with practical skills that enable long-term self-reliance. Our approach moves beyond short-term relief by focusing on sustainable solutions that strengthen food production, nutrition, and livelihoods at household and community levels.
We deliver hands-on training programs that combine theory with practical application, ensuring that households can immediately implement what they learn within their own environments. Our work is grounded in local realities and designed to build resilience against climate change, economic shocks, and seasonal food shortages.
Our Mission
To build the capacity of households through practical training, innovation, and sustainable agricultural practices that enhance food security and livelihoods.
A food-secure Malawi where households are self-reliant and resilient.
Our Vision

SAFI implements practical, community-focused programs designed to address the root causes of food insecurity. Our programs equip households with sustainable skills, promote self-reliance, and strengthen community resilience.

Sustainable Agriculture Training Program
This program focuses on equipping households with practical skills in sustainable and climate-smart agriculture. Participants receive hands-on training in soil management, crop diversification, water conservation, and environmentally friendly farming practices.

Household Food Security & Self-Reliance Program
SAFI works directly with vulnerable households to strengthen their capacity to produce sufficient food throughout the year. The program emphasizes long-term solutions that reduce dependency on food aid.

Innovation & Demonstration Program
SAFI uses its training campus as a learning and innovation hub where practical solutions to food insecurity are tested and demonstrated. Communities are exposed to proven techniques that can be replicated at household level.
